Kia ora koutou , my name is Kim Freeth, and I am a fully registered social worker (SWRB) & professionally qualified social service supervisor - Postgraduate Diploma in Social Service Supervision (PGDipSSS) with Distinction, BSW Hons, & ANZASW member, who resides in the beautiful Marlborough region. I have extensive experience working within a variety of social service organisations, for over 27 years. This has included leadership roles and management. I am competent in providing both clinical and cultural supervision inclusive of groupwork and team dynamics. I am also affiliated with ABACUS counselling & supervision services.

My focus is to provide a safe and neutral space for practitioners of all social services, to reflect and learn from their practice. I encourage self-care, and believe that challenge and conflict can provide opportunities for positive change and growth, alongside developing 'super-vision' for going forward. Practitioners can become 'stagnant' over time, going through the motions, so having access to supervision that understands this dynamic, can help to bring renewed purpose. This is a space where you the supervisee are allowed to be authentic and 'real' an aspect that is often limited regarding in-line supervision.
As a Māori practitioner, I seek to utilise the Tuakana Teina strengths-based relationship practice model, that promotes a respectful supervisory relationship. It acknowledges that both teacher and learner hold power within the relationship. It is non-elitist and supports the supervisee to be an active, rather than passive, participant. T
This is vital, in the goal of establishing an effective supervisory relationship. This model also encourages the supervisee to understand their unique learning style, and how that affects their practice.
Anyone who is involved in the social sector / human services. I have supported people from various professions and disciplines, including social workers, nurses, counsellors, pastoral staff and front line public relations staff.
I love working with students, and have actively supervised people on placements and contributed to their academic requirements.
I have a template that can be specifically improvised / accommodated to suit everyone's individual needs and requirements. This includes an individual's organisational contract regulations.
WELCOME!
Kim is a warm, supportive supervisor who provides a safe space for honest reflection on a diverse range of practice issues. Kim's genuine interest and curiosity in my professional development, has been pivotal through exploration of my career journey. I highly recommend Kim as a supervisor.

I have worked alongside Kim in the disability sector, and can vouch for her ability to provide a non-judgemental approach, and skill of being able to relate to people from all walks of life. Kim has an innate understanding of how disability affects individuals, and the specific support that they require.
